The regional qualifier of the Japan Chess Championship for western Tokyo was held on 18 January 2026 at the Nakano ward office, organised by Nakano Chess Club, as a four-round standard-time official event. The 2025 edition (29 and 30 March 2025) was held jointly as the Tokyo and Western Tokyo Chess Championship in a building in Chūō ward, organised by Tachikawa Chess Club, Nakano Chess Club and the federation. The federation's list of qualifiers for 2026 shows it as the first qualifier of the year; no 2027 date is published yet.
