About this list
Most chess classes in Tokyo are for children, held once a week or twice a month after school or at the weekend. Tokyo Bilingual Chess School teaches in Ōsaki and Minami-Azabu, starting with a class for kindergarten-age children who have never played. Kspace in Shirokanedai runs a Thursday after-school club for ages four to seven with ten places, and Dream AcademiA in Higashi-Azabu has a beginner class and a step class on the second and fourth Friday and Saturday.
Shogi Chess Frontier in Okusawa, Setagaya, gives first-chess and intermediate classes on Tuesday afternoons. Outside Tokyo, Yokohama Chess Club holds a monthly children's class in Naka ward, and Chiba Chess Club's beginner classes in Kashiwa and Matsudo charge less for high school age and younger. Enrolment and monthly fees, where printed, are on each card.
