Saturday afternoon is the busiest time for a casual game in the Tokyo area. Chess Center UENO in Kita-Ueno opens from noon until five, with a ticket bought in advance, and Yokohama Chess Club meets twice a month from one o'clock in the café space of the YWCA Yokohama, starting with a short lecture for beginners and needing no sign-up.
The Tokyo Chess Go board game meetup has held beginner-friendly Saturday sessions at one in the afternoon at the Jimbocho Igo Club in Chiyoda, although the last event on its page dates from March 2026. Chess Center UENO keeps the same noon-to-five hours on Sunday, and Yokohama Chess Club announces its Saturday dates for the coming months on its own site.
