A team called Hongo Chess no Kai finished second in the open section of the Japan Team Chess Championship 2025 (1 and 2 November 2025) on the tournament server. Beyond that result, its only source is a chess blog's list of university circles dated 8 April 2026, which describes it as a study group linked to the University of Tokyo chess circle, meeting on Wednesdays in a café between Nezu and Sendagi stations, and adds that this may be old information. No page of the group itself is cited.
